Get the Fastest RAM PossibleĪ larger capacity and faster running speed of your RAM will help software performance when under load. I've noticed it even makes browsing the internet faster. I also timed how long it took to restart: only 30 seconds! I don't have issues with slow software now either editing photos and even videos is a breeze.

The boot time is ridiculous now, about 10 seconds compared to a minute and a half (I could go and get a cup of tea before).
#Make mac run faster 2012 pro#
I bought the Western Digital Blue 3D NAND 2.5" SATA SSD, and it's been running happily in my MacBook Pro 2012 ever since. This stops static electricity from shorting out any vital components and wrecking your laptop.
#Make mac run faster 2012 how to#
The process was simple and there are plenty of guides on how to do it online, but the big tip I recommend is using an anti-static sheet when doing the swap. I bought one and made a straight swap by unscrewing the bottom panel of the laptop and unclipping a few pieces. The benefit of running an SSD over an HDD is that there are no moving parts, and the speed benefits are enormous. I switched out the old hard disk drive, which runs on old metal, spinning discs, and popped in a brand new solid state drive.
#Make mac run faster 2012 upgrade#
This is by far and away from the best upgrade I made to my MBP. I run diagnostics and nothing comes up saying it is wrong.Solid State Drives (SSDs) have no moving parts, and the read/write speeds are incredibly fast compared with old mechanical hard disk drives. I’m wondering if its the battery like the one guy stated. I’m going to try resetting the SMC and PRAM and let you know. There is so much more running behind Google’s browsers than we know. I switched to Brave at her suggestion and that does hold the fan off a lot longer. I will say talking with my friends in class that Google Chrome pulls a lot. I like have my optical drive and didn’t want to upgrade to have to lose that. I like the older version much more than the newer ones. The fan is still running loud and my MacBook is now getting hot to touch. I will get Visual Studio Code going, have my class running in a browser and terminal open and it sounds like my computer is going to get up and fly away the fan is so loud. I also somehow lost my rights to my permissions and when I use terminal I get error messages installing node, npm and homebrew. I didn’t notice it until sometime last year with OS upgrade.

I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2012). I have to say mine has been doing it too.

If a restart doesn’t work, try resetting the SMC and PRAM. If the fan is continually running at a high speed, try a Restart. It’s one of the biggest causes of CPU/GPU stress, and will no doubt increase your Macbook Pro fan speed because Flash is so intensive on hardware. In Chrome, you can use Flashcontrol to disable instances of Flash (it still allows you to view Flash on a per-site basis as needed). Flash is now disabled by default in Firefox.

Apps like Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, and VMware Fusion/Parallels tend to cause the fans to speed up, as the temperature of your CPU/GPU will increase when using those apps.ĭisable Flash in your browser. You can also see which apps are using the most energy as well. Open Activity Monitor to see which apps are using the most CPU. If it is running at maximum RPM (usually about 6000 on a Macbook Pro), this indicates there is software running on your Mac that is stressing the CPU or GPU. However it should not be excessively noisy or running at a high speed all the time.
